What we were sold -----> What we really needed 

Story time...

I will never forget those words.

“Sell them what they want.”

I have been coaching women since 2018, and I have worked with a few mentors in that time to help me grow my business and reach more women who would benefit from my coaching services.

This particular coach was suggesting my content for social media wasn't working because I was not using words like BELLY FAT, LOSE 13 POUNDS, DETOX, FAT BURNING etc.

You know the crap us ladies have been sold for decades. The marketing that has left us confused, overweight, and under muscled as we now enter one of the most difficult phases in our lives hormonally, perimenopause. 

My heart sank when he said it, how could I lean on that kind of marketing? The entire POINT of my coaching was simplifying nutrition and fitness for women over 35 who have fallen victim to this stuff! I knew damn well it was ALL nonsense. My education had taught me better, and I wanted to set myself apart from that BS.

Hell, I knew he KNEW BETTER! Yet he was advising me to jump on the bandwagon, with the “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” attitude.

I had the ICK.

It went against my core values, and the values for this business today:

 

Women should be strong, well fueled, and in control of their health and fitness.

 

Women should stop trying to lose another ten pounds, and start trying to LIFT TEN MORE POUNDS.

 

  • Sustainable results over quick fixes.
  • Consistency over perfection.
  • What gets measured gets managed.

As you can imagine that mentorship didn’t go well for me, clearly it was not a good fit.

See here’s the thing, they think you are not smart enough or good enough to understand the truth about nutrition and fitness. They think you won’t work hard enough, and so you have to be sold the easy way, the quick fix.

Truthfully nutrition and fitness is all very simple in terms of technique, it is just hard to apply from a behavior standpoint. BECAUSE of the way society functions and because we have been sold lies for so long. These quick fixes have left our metabolism in a place where it is even harder to successfully lose weight and keep it off. They don’t want you to know that it’s all the diets, detoxes, and trends that have left you here. No no, it is better if you just blame that on yourself and keep buying their products or programs.

I knew then that I didn't care if it cost me growth in my business, I wasn’t going to do it.

I was not going to grow this business on the back of BS marketing.

Even if I “gave them what they needed” as he said.

Sell them what they want, give them what they need. No thank you.

I would rather share content every single day that educates you on what you need and speak to the pain you are in NOW (Because I get it!) So hopefully someday you can trust me enough to help you apply what you need consistently, so you can leave this stuff where it belongs..

I am going to be honest, I don’t want to sell you. I never take sales calls, I never push someone to work with me. In fact I turned away 3 women from my last group launch because I didn’t think they would be the best fit for this program. If I don’t think it will work for you, I will tell you.

I am not going to build your trust any other way.

And I cannot coach anyone successfully without trust.
